Avenview, a manufacturer of ProAV components for the management and distribution of video signals, has launched a 4K Audio-Video Over IP Extender with Matrix, Multiviewer and Video Wall functions, the APEX4K Series.
As the world continues to move toward more digital communication, signage and display, communication in public areas, corporate environments and private institutions requires a better way of distributing content. Content needs to be available quickly, with high quality and maximum ability to control and switch. Through recent modern developments, audio-visual (AV) transmission over IP has become a leading solution to provide audiences with digital content in a fast and reliable manner. Avenview is proud to provide an industry leading solution for distribution of AV over IP with the APEX4K series.
The APEX4K set includes a pair of modular devices that are the first to enable extension, switching and compositing of uncompressed Ultra-HD video over IP with zero frame latency, using the award winning BlueRiver NT chip from AptoVision. This 4K video over IP Extender employs FPGA chip technology and a high-bandwidth synchronous packet based architecture for pixel transmission and it is among the first IP based products to transmit uncompressed 4K AV signals.
This IP Extender provides a multi function installation while reducing costs and size of equipment. Custom AV switches are not required and are replaced with off the shelf Gigabit Ethernet switches. These off the shelf switches can cost as little as 1/10th of a custom AV switch and in addition, other network equipment can share the LAN, which simplifies installation and lowers costs; there is no need for a separate Data and AV LAN.
The device also has built in scalability since high bandwidth up links on most IP switches allow easy addition of I/Os beyond the maximum density of the installed switch. Custom AV switches, on the other hand, often require full replacement in order to upgrade.
Existing CATx Infrastructure can be used with this system to transmit 4K video to a distance of up to 100m which saves further costs of installing new and dedicated cabling. With fiber optic cable, this device will transmit up to 30km in the future. IR and RS232 functionality ensure this device can be controlled from anywhere.
How it Works: An APEX4K transmitting encoder is attached to any source signal – whether it’s a media player, PC or Server, BluRay player, or digital signage player. Using existing CAT6 infrastructure, users can connect CAT6 to an APEX4K receiving decoder anywhere on the same gigabit network within 100m. This decoder connects directly to a screen or TV, delivering visually lossless video with zero frame latency along with CEC controls.
Distribution, display and switching possibilities are endless. The APEX4K can be used in multiple custom solutions using combinations of transmitting encoders and receiving decoders. Sources can be controlled and switched over distances up to 100m over CAT6 and for a multitude of applications across many market sectors such as Board Rooms, Retail, Menu Boards, Sports Bars and more.
Software is included and allows the user to easily create and configure a video matrix, switch video sources or combine sources to create a video wall.
