WARSAW, IN – April 16, 2018 – Ambient Light Rejection (ALR) surfaces provide a brighter image in high ambient light environments, allowing users to benefit from larger, more affordable displays that look like flat panels, but without glare from windows, overhead lighting or other light reflections. The latest additions to the ALR lineup include electric screen options as well as additional surfaces that can accommodate larger installs for large venue applications.
While Parallax 0.8 blocks 96% of ambient light and features an advanced optical lens system, HD Progressive 0.6 and HD Progressive 1.1 Contrast are vinyl ALR surfaces that block 53% and 20% of light. Da-Lite is expanding the types and sizes of screens that can now feature an ALR surface. In addition to Parallax UST 0.45, which is an ALR surface for ultra-short-throw, they also create greater flexibility to the placement and types of projectors that can be used with ALR.
Compatible with laser projection, Parallax is made up of multiple micro-layers to achieve its light blocking properties and superior viewing angles. It features an extremely wide viewing half angle of 85° and is glare and speckle free. Each micro-layer has a function in creating the brightly lit display. Layers that are black boost contrast and absorb ambient light from the sides, while a specially shaped layer blocks light from above. This is evident in demos where lights can be shown directly above the screen without washing out the image. “Adding HD Progressive 0.6 and HD Progressive 1.1 Contrast with options for larger ALR screens and future proofing rooms with 16K-ready surfaces is just the next phase of building out options for our customers,” said Melissa Rone, Senior Product Marketing Manager. “We are excited to offer these new ALR options to our customers.”
